Thanksgiving and Gratitude!

As the leaves change color and fall to the ground, it is a clear sign that we are moving quickly into another season. As our nation pauses this week to give humble and sincere thanks for our bountiful blessings from God, we here at the North Carolina Family Policy Council are especially thankful for you, our supporters. We pray that each of you will be deeply blessed during this time of reflection with family and friends.

May we focus on all the blessings we have experienced this year, and the fact that every day is a gift from God. As the Scriptures exhort, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6) Our prayer is that God would give each of us grateful hearts, wisdom and humility to seek His holy will in all things, and joyful hope in the knowledge that He is greater than any sin, sickness, disappointment or challenge we may face. “O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!” (1 Chronicles 16:34).

A couple of helpful resources: As you prepare to gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, we recognize that the issue of marriage may arise during family discussions. We are called to be salt and light in our culture, and to speak God’s truth in love. In this regard, the North Carolina Family Policy Council is pleased to provide a couple of helpful video resources to help prepare you for these opportunities. This year, we have been fortunate to host two of the nation’s foremost scholars on marriage as keynote speakers at our Major Speakers dinners: Ryan Anderson of The Heritage Foundation, and John Stonestreet of the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview. Visit the Council’s YouTube channel to watch these insightful and informative presentations. We are sure you will find this time well spent!
