Although it is widely known that President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris intend to impose a radical LGBTQ+ agenda on the nation, few understand how shockingly extensive this agenda really is. A review of The Biden Plan to Advance LGBTQ+ Equality in America and Around the World demonstrates just how far it goes. The pages and pages of action items on Joe Biden’s campaign website also show how little room the Biden-Harris plan leaves for millions of Americans who hold to a sincere belief that: (1) God created male and female as separate and distinct sexes; (2) God created the institution of marriage as a union between one man and one woman; and (3) human sexual activity is intended by God to take place only within the context of a biblical marriage relationship.

It is important to start by saying that every individual should be treated with the utmost dignity and respect. That’s a given, or it should be! However, establishing extensive legal rights based solely on an individual’s identity as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, non-binary, or other “+” classification; and then using the force of government to compel every citizen to accept and embrace this viewpoint or be subject to severe punishment, is only going to result in irreconcilable conflicts across our nation.

We see this in the lives of creative artists like Colorado baker Jack Phillips and Washington State florist Barronelle Stutzman, whose convictions about biblical marriage and human sexuality prohibit them from using their God-given skills and talents to celebrate events like the union of a same-sex couple or an individual’s gender transition. Both Jack and Barronelle love their clients, but they refuse to allow the government to force them to speak messages and create images that violate their sincerely held religious beliefs. While their cases have been deliberated all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, countless other small businesses and individual citizens are facing similar legal attacks.

Regrettably, it seems apparent that these conflicts are only going to worsen under the incoming Biden-Harris administration. Notably, in addition to the myriad of policy changes put forth in the “Plan” on the President-elect’s website, there are repeated characterizations that those who espouse a differing viewpoint “hate” LGBTQ+ identifying individuals. This is no way to bridge the deep divides that exist in our nation and to bring people together.

On his first day in office, according to Biden’s “LGBTQ-policy” webpage, the President-elect intends to reinstate the Obama-Biden-era guidance to allow transgender-identifying male students to participate on girls’ sports teams, and access female bathrooms and locker rooms in accordance with their “gender identity.” The site also says he will direct the Department of Education to “vigorously enforce and investigate” violations of transgender students’ civil rights.

While all of the other items on the Biden-Harris agenda are far too extensive to include in their entirety here, the following are some additional priorities:

• Restore federal taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood
• Ensure that federal agencies are committed to fully enforcing LGBTQ+ civil rights laws and that federal funding (i.e. taxpayer dollars) exist to enforce these laws;
• Impose legal rights on the basis of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” in Title VII employment law and with respect to contractors with the federal government;
• Prohibit faith-based foster care and adoption agencies from receiving federal funding if they refuse to place children with individual who identify as LGBTQ+;
• Ban “conversion therapy,” which is designed to assist adolescents, youth and adults who are struggling with gender dysphoria or same-sex sexual attractions;
• Nominate and appoint federal officials and judges who affirm the LGBTQ+ agenda;
• Fund “public information campaigns to promote LGBTQ+ human rights’”
• Allow LGBTQ+ identifying individuals to serve openly in our military and be treated based on their “gender identity” instead of their biological sex;
• Eliminate “religious exemptions” from LGBTQ+ policies relating to business, medicine, social services, state and local government, and other areas;
• Allow “gender markers” of “M,” “F,” or “X,” on passports, driver licenses, and other forms of government-issued ID based on “gender identity” instead of biological sex;
• Require coverage in federal health care plans for gender reassignment surgery.

Again, this list is just a portion of the overall agenda President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris intend to unleash on our nation immediately after their inauguration next Wednesday, January 20. In light of just these items alone, citizens with moral convictions and sincere beliefs about biblical marriage and human sexuality have reason to be deeply concerned about the future of our nation, our families, and especially our children.

Let us remain in prayer that our nation’s leaders will seek God’s wisdom, implement restraint, and ultimately follow His will.

Instead we are called to pray, to seek His face, and to be His ambassadors in a time of great confusion in our country and across the globe. Let us celebrate God’s beautiful design, speak openly, boldly, and lovingly about His truth, and shine a bright light in an ever-darkening world.
