Raleigh Pregnancy Center Nearing Deadline

Friday is the deadline for a Raleigh pregnancy care center to find out if the path is clear for them to relocate next door to an abortion clinic. If no protests are filed, this could be the culmination of what has become a contentious process for Your Choice Pregnancy Center. “We located right there beside the abortion clinic because we want to give these women and these men a true choice when it comes to either parenting their child or ending their child’s life,“ says Your Choice Pregnancy Center Executive Director Tanya Baker Nelson.

In an interview on Brannon Broadcast LIVE, Nelson explained why Your Choice Pregnancy Center is working to situate their location in as strategic location as possible. “For too long, the pro-abortion side has claimed that word, ‘choice.’ And in reality, now all they’re really doing is promoting their abortion agenda. So we wanted to take that word back, just like we want to take that land back right beside the abortion clinic and say, ‘You do have a choice!’”

Your Choice bought the residential property on Jones Franklin Road in December of 2015 and applied to have it rezoned for commercial/mixed use. The house is sandwiched between two properties that had been residential but were rezoned for commercial use. Despite the fact that the Planning Commission gave a favorable recommendation, the Raleigh City Council denied the request. Your Choice’s parent organization, Hand of Hope Pregnancy Center, sued the City of Raleigh. That suit is still pending.

The Raleigh City Council unexpectedly reversed their decision in November and set Friday, December 16 as a deadline for any appeals to be filed.
