In 1973, the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade made abortion legal throughout the United States. Since that time, the rhetoric has been consistent: Roe v. Wade ensured the right to safe and legal abortion; removing that right would have “fatal consequences;” and abortion is “one of the safest medical procedures.”
