With all the controversy surrounding professional athletes and other prominent figures sitting, kneeling, or choosing to remain absent during the playing of our national anthem, I thought we could all benefit from reading “The Star-Spangled Banner” in its entirety. We respectfully ask that you take a moment to read all of these verses and reflect upon them. Then, let’s say a prayer of deepest thanks for those who have gone before us and for those who have sacrificed so much—even their very lives—that we might live in what is currently recognized as the freest and most prosperous nation on the planet.
